According to local and social relief groups, two ancient monasteries, which have more than 100 years old, were burned down in a single day in Mon State.
Over 100-year-old monastery in Thanphyuzara Township, Webo Taung Village, Mon State, caught fire on November 8 at around 7:00 a.m.
Due to the fire in the monastery, the materials and shelter inside the temple were destroyed by the fire, and the fire was extinguished at about 9:30 in the morning, according to the social rescue group.
“The fire was caused by a short circuit, no one was injured, and many valuables were caught in the fire,” said a volunteer rescue member.
At the same time, a fire broke out at the Thein Seik Monastery, which is more than 100 years old, in Thuvannawati Town, Thaton Township, Mon State.
Due to overheating of the fan, the Thein Seik Monastery caught fire at around 12:00 PM on November 8 and the fire was extinguished at 2 am, according to the social rescue group.
“The fire started from the fan. I don’t know how much was involved in the fire. Two cars and three motorcycles were caught in the fire,” said a member of Lumu Rescue. The fire brigade, social rescue group and local residents in the township of the more than a hundred year old Webo Monastery and Thein Seik Monastery, where the fire broke out, put out the fire, ‌according to local residents.
