In Kyaikto township, Mon State, this April, four people closely associated with the military junta, including the village Administrator, were shot dead.
A resident of Kyaikto reported that an Administrator, a 100 Houses Group Elder, a militia leader collecting gate fees, a supporter of the military junta, and individuals forced to serve as military commanders were killed.
“There have been three or four deaths this month, and the Kawthtin Administrator was shot dead on 23 April. They also took the motorcycle. He had been the Administrator for at most five months. Despite his death, those wishing to join are still standing in line,” said a resident.
On April 23rd, in Kyaikto township, Kawthtin village Administrator U Win Aung, was shot by unknown gunmen on the village road, according to local residents.
As a consequence, residents noted a decrease in the military junta’s recruitment efforts for military commanders.
On April 19th, two unknown gunmen on a motorcycle shot at a People’s Army leader named U Aung Zaw Oo (aka Pho Lone) who was collecting gate tolls at the intersection of Wardatkwin village, Kyaikto township, Theinzayat township.
Also, on April 1st, U Mya Aye, an informer for the military junta in Kawsannaing Ward, was shot dead by a joint team of Kyaikto Revolutionary Insurgents and the KRF.
Last March, in Kyaikto township, a total of six people close to the military junta forces, including an Administrator, a monk, 10 Houses Group Elders, 100 Houses Group Elders, and Pyusawhti, were shot dead, according to sources for the Independent Mon News Agency.
On March 17th, the revolutionary forces active in Kyaikto township announced that effective action would be taken against those who personally participate and collaborate in the implementation of military conscription.
