It is reported that three local civilian family members, including the children, were injured by motor-shell explosion in Khawzar Town, southern Ye township of Mon State, on the night of 4th  November.

Those injured by the motor shells were a 55-year-old man and two girls aged six and seven. The locals say that the artillery shells were fired unilaterally by the Khawzar-based Light Infantry Battalion No. 31.

“The motor shells fell about 5 times into the village, and they were shooting continuously with their weapons. It’s not like a battle, it’s assumed that they (LIB No. 31 Battalion) fired in the same way,” said a resident.

Two young girls were slightly injured in the face due to being hit by a piece of shell, from a motor, and a man who was hit by a piece of shell in his body was taken to the Ye Township Public Hospital with the help of the social rescue team.

Last October 1, there was an incident, which Mon State Defence Force – South units from the Mon State Defense Force came and fired at the Khawzar police station in the south of Ye Township.

Khawzar town is located 24 miles south of Ye town, and LIB 31 Battalion deployed after 2000, after the New Mon State Party agreed bilieral agreement with former regime, SLORC/SPDC.  The Khawzar village tract was promoted to sub-township level, and the previous military junta installed police station and government offices in there.
