Two unidentified men on a motorcycle detonated a grenade at a military base in Three Pagodas Township on the Thai-Burmese border at around 10 pm last night.

“At 10 o’clock last night, two people on a motorcycle threw a grenade into the front yard of the hill and we then heard gunshots. They went back towards the clock tower outside the city,” said a resident near Tat Khone.

The sound of grenades exploding was heard all over the city.  Although the gunfire lasted about 10 minutes, there were no reports of injuries or damage.

Residents of Three Pagodas Township, also reported that the military and the Karen State Border Guard Force (BGF) stormed a motorcycle protest in Three Pagodas Township yesterday afternoon and arrested a number of people.  Individuals were hit by a car and some citizens were killed.
