Bomb Blast in Ye Township, landmines and grenades found in Abaw Village

Explosive devices, as well as one bomb blast have recently occured in Ye Township and Mawlamyine. 

A bomb exploded at the Township Education Office on Yan Myo Aung Yan Bogyoke Road, Ye Township at about 5:15 a.m today (April 25).

The explosion occurred inside the Education Director’s office, shattering six windows but there were no injuries, according to a Ye Township resident.

Earlier in the day, a hand grenade and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found inside the compound of Than Htike, a member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) in Abaw Village, Ye Township.

The grenade and landmine were cleared by Ye Township security forces by noon, according to members of the community.

A bomb was also found on the evening of March 30 near the police line in front of a Hindu temple near High School #8  in Mawlamyine’s Ye Baw Kone ward.
