Clashes Begin Near KIA Headquarters

-

According to sources on the ground, the military junta’s base camps near Laiza, the headquarters of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), were attacked and occupied by the KIA and joint forces earlier on the morning of March 7.

Since the morning of March 7th, KIA joint forces simultaneously attacked approximately 12 military junta camps in Waingmaw and Momauk townships.

A news source from Kachin State reported, “Camps have been occupied, and there are also burning. The exact names of the camps are not yet known.”

The military junta and the KIA have not released anything about the fighting.

According to the source, fighting is going on in Shwenyaungpin camp, Shadanpar camp and Intabon camp near Laiza.

“Operation 0307” was launched in Kachin State after a Chinese-mediated a temporary ceasefire between the military junta and ethnic armed resistance groups in northern Shan State.
