“Political Problems should be Solved by Political Means”: NMSP announcement  on 75th Diamond Jubilee Ceremony of Mon Revolution Day

-

On the 75th Diamond Jubilee Ceremony Mon Revolution Day, the New Mon State Party (NMSP) announced their position of “solving political problems through political means”.

The NMSP continues to stand with the Peace Process Steering Team ( PPST) which includes the participation of 10 ethnic armed organizations that have each signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement ( NCA).

The New Mon State Party is currently meeting with the Myanmar Military. It is believed the discussion agenda includes the establishment of a Mon state and related Mon national issues. It is speculated that  building a federal state structure that is inclusive of  ethnic peoples may also be under discussion

“Currently, while training the new generation of revolutionaries, (to be active within) the party, ethnic armed forces, and (while also promoting) regional and national unity, we will continue to open the door to political discussion,” stated the NMSP to the public and all patriotic comrades.

Chair Nai Hong Sar and other top leaders of the NMSP attended the Diamond Jubilee Ceremony Revolution Day ceremony.

The event took place in the morning on 11 August at the NMSP headquarters in Ye Chaung Phyar region of Mon State.

The New Mon State Party also held a ceremony in the districts of  Mawlamyine, Dawei Thathong and Three Pagoda Pass.  Those events also took place in the morning of the 11th and included honor guard columns.

There was a  flag salute to deceased Mon martyrs and fallen revolutionary soldiers.

The NMSP party statement was read as well as the Chairs message, which acknowledged  those who died during the revolution, and  the names of those who worked diligently during the revolution were read in order.

The ceremonies ended with shouts of “All the Mon people should unite”, “The Mon national liberation revolution must succeed”, “A new Mon country must emerge”.

Historical records show that the Mon revolution began with a group of youth, who chose to stand against their oppression and abuse of the  Anti-Fascist People’s Freedom League (AFPFL) government. The youth group attacked the Zar Ta Pyin police station, in Hpa-an Township on the full moon day of WarKaung 1948.
