In Paung Township 10 new patients were confirmed to have Covid in just one day. One patient died in Thanbyuzayat Township on January 11.
The virus had infected 10 family members, including a high school teacher and a student, who attended the Basic Education High School (Branch) of Kyarbo Village, Paung Township, according to the education director’s office.
The Education Director’s Office indicated that cases were discovered when the high school teacher was diagnosed. Those related to her were subsequently found to be infected. This included a one-year-old and eight others.
“The teacher had not been vaccinated against Covid because when vaccinations began, pregnant women were excluded. Both the child and the mother (teacher) were found to have the virus when she became ill. The other eight are in good health. The baby still has a slight fever,” said a charity worker.
A 27-year-old woman from Aung Chan Thar Ward in Thanbyuzayat Township who had been diagnosed with HIV died at around 9 pm on January 11, according to the Homeless Social Welfare Association. The Covid virus was found to be in her system after her death.
