In Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, two siblings were killed by the military junta’s mortar shelling on Zardi village, according to local sources.
Around noon on May 15th, mortar shells were fired by the military junta’s naval forces based in Ohn Pin Kwin village, despite no active fighting in the area. One of the shells struck and exploded in a house in Zardi village.
The explosion killed two siblings, 16-year-old Mg Zaw Myo Aung and 11-year-old Ma Pwang Pwang.
“A mortar shell hit a house, completely destroying it, and the two children inside died instantly,” reported a local resident.
The ongoing mortar shelling by the military junta has forced residents of Zardi village to flee to safer areas, locals confirmed.
The Tanintharyi Region continues to experience intense fighting between the military junta and revolutionary forces. The military junta frequently shells villages and conducts aerial attacks, resulting in numerous casualties, fatalities, and significant damage to homes, according to local reports.
