The 7 ethnic armed organizations who are signatories to the Ceasefire Alliance said that they will consult with any force to overcome the current crisis in Myanmar.
Colonel Saw Kyaw Nyunt, spokesperson of the Ceasefire Alliance, said that the 7 ethnic armed organizations are trying to get international support in line with the current political situation.
“As the 7 EAOs, we will talk to any forces in order to overcome this political crisis. We have decided that we will consult and negotiate. Whether it is the current ASEAN to get to the level where we can meet with other international forces or with the 7 group scene. We are still working hard,” said Colonel Saw Kyaw Nyunt.
The alliance of 7 ethnic armed organizations includes the Restoration Council Of Shan State (Rcss), the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (Dkba), the Karen National Union/Karen National Liberation Army Peace Council (Knu/knla-pc), the Arakan Liberation Party (Alp), and the Pa-o National Liberation Organization (Pnlo), New Mon State Party (Nmsp), Lahu Democratic Union (Ldu).
Colonel Saw Kyaw Nyunt said the alliance held a meeting over two days (May 7th and 8th), and that duties and powers were approved at this meeting.
“The work we will do in the new group, our policies, strategies, and forward processes, we can approve at the two-day leadership committee meeting. And that’s what we mainly did during the two-day meeting, which is to confirm responsibility and authority” he said.
The 7 EAO Alliance was formed on March 18th, 2024, and includes 7 ethnic armed groups that signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).
