U Than Lwin, the former Administrator of Khaywea village in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, was arrested by a group of individuals in civilian clothes around 5:00 a.m. on October 18.
Former administrator U Than Lwin, 50 years of age, was arrested by individuals in civilian clothes, but who claimed to be with the military junta’s 310th Artillery unit.
He was accused of providing information and support to the People’s Defense Force (PDF), according to local residents.
However, the pro-military junta’s Telegram channel reported that U Than Lwin was abducted by the joint forces of the 1st Brigade of the Karen National Union (KNU) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF).
According to the resident, they have no details yet about the arrest of U Than Lwin.
During the military coup in Kyaikto Township, nearly 100 local people, including businessmen, have been arrested and sentenced to prison for alleged links to the PDF.
According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), as of October 17, nearly 830 civilians have been arrested in Mon State since the coup.
