29 Killed, Including Children, in Bombing Near KIO HQ Evacuation Camp

-

Last night, the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO/KIA) headquarters and the Monelinekat military evacuation camp near Laiza town were bombed. KIO officials have confirmed that at least 29 people, including children, were killed.

On October 9, at around 11:30 p.m., the military junta bombed the Monelinekat military evacuation camp, located just 2 miles from Laizar township.

A total of 29 people, including at least 13 child refugees, were killed, and 56 others were injured in the refugee camp bombing. The injured were taken to Laizar Hospital for treatment.

Currently, rescuers are searching for and removing the bodies of those who fled the war from the bombed-out ruins, and the death toll is likely to rise.
