Man Injured by Landmine in Thein Zayat Village, Mon State

According to local sources, a man was injured by a landmine that exploded in between Kanni and Thein Zayat villages, Kyaikhto Township, Mon State.

At 9 pm on May 29th, Ko Chan Myae Aung, a 28-year-old resident of Thein Zayat town, was riding his motorcycle, and when he reached the entrance of the Kanni village, he rode over a landmine.

A resident stated, “It happened right at the entrance to the village. As the motorcycle was entering the village near the Kanni, it triggered a landmine. Initially, we were hesitant to approach given the late hour. Eventually, we had to seek rescue assistance.”

Ko Chan Myae Aung sustained a laceration on his left leg, along with lacerations on both his left and right hand, as well as non-critical injuries to his palm.

With the help of the Social Aid and Relief Association he was transported to Thein Zayat District Hospital where he received medical treatment.

Landmine explosions also occurred on March 22nd, when a 25-year-old man was killed by a landmine near Mount Kyaik Htee Yoe, located in Kyaik Hto Township.

On March 27, in Kyaik Hto Township, near Meyonelay village, three local residents triggered a landmine, killing one and injuring the other two.
