The Karen Liberation Army (KNLA) along with a group known as the Taung Nyo Column, arrested 8 members of the Burmese army, including a Warrant Officer who were returning from the No. 4 Military Training School in Wekli to the Ye Township Battalion.

The Burmese officer and soldiers were traveling in a civilian car when the arrest took place.

According to an unnamed village Administrator, the KNLA and Taung Nyo column, made the arrest on the highway between Thanbyuzayat and Ye Townships on September 4 at 2:00 p.m.

The administrator said,  “While the Karen soldiers were checking the road, they saw a military box inside a  civilian car, which led them to make the  arrest.”

Military equipment inside the box was seized along with the vehicle.
