Local communities will reportedly continue providing financial support to teachers serving in Mon National School under the Mon National Education Department
Teachers serving in Mon National Schools receive supplementary allowances from the Mon community via donations, in addition to their salaries which are provided by the Mon National Education Department.

The amount of the supplementary allowance varies from township to township depending on funds raised.
“In some villages, the supplementary allowance reaches 100,000 or 200,000 kyats while some teachers receive only around 20,000 or 30,000 Kyats. Teachers in villages that can afford to give more are doing fine, but those getting only 20,000or 30,000 kyats face difficulties,” a teacher said.
The Mon National Department announced that it is fully funding salary support for teachers without making any deductions.
There are over 140 Mon national schools, including primary, middle and high schools, under the Mon National Education with currently more than 800 teachers.
