Thai Government to Issue labor Registration Cards due to Increasing need for Workers

-

The government of Thailand will issue a labor registration card (aka a pink card), on December 1 of this year.   Thailand has announced they need more than 400,000 workers.

The new worker registration card will allow Burmese nationals to stay and work in Thailand until February 2023.

Ko Thiha is a Director with the  Thailand based Siam Hongsar Co., Ltd.  He said, “Due to an increase in the number of Burmese citizens the Thai government will begin to issue a pink card (labor card) in December. This worker card allows you to work in Thailand. It is a work permit that allows us to work in Thailand from November 2021 to February 2023. That is why so many of our citizens are entering,” said Ko Thiha.

He added that all that is required to obtain the card is the person’s  name, their  date of birth and their father’s name.

“The cost set by the Thai government is 1,900 baht. Covid’s insurance costs are 1,990 and there are additional health check costs. There will be only these three fees.  The cost  in total will range from 8,500 baht to 12,000 baht,” he added.

If you have a registration card and passport, you must show a hard copy of both documents.

Ko Thiha said that, “the pink card means the worker is not allowed to travel beyond a  designated area. They are only allowed to live and work in the designated area. Due to Covid, our workers had not been  able to return to Thailand since March 2020. Most of them could not return. If they needed  to return, they had to enter illegally.”

The decision to issue these new cards was made at a cabinet meeting held on 12 November between the two countries, and will begin at midnight of November 30.
