According to staff from the Ye Police Station, 150 tablets of illegal drugs were seized and four men have been arrested in connection with the seizure. The arrests took place at a betel nut garden in Tha Min Gone community of A Zin village, Ye township on December 18th.
Ye Town Police cooperated with troops from the Narcotics Force and conducted an inspection of a betel nut garden owned by Aung Zaw Win, age 32. The police also arrested Bo Bo Aung, 17 years old, Zarni Augn (aka) Hnar Pit, 34 years old, and Htet Pine Soe (aka) Aung Khin, 25 years old.
The men were found together in Aung Zaw Win’s garden, while the police were searching the area.
“After getting a tip about the drugs, we went to investigate. We joined the Narcotics Force. We found the four men together with the drugs,” said, Deputy Chief of Police Win Myite of the Ye Town Police Station.
According to police records, 50 pills were branded with the letter R and were orange in color, 100 pills were branded with the letters ‘WY’ and orange in color. In addition 5 grams of a drug known as ICE were seized.
The men were charged under Section 19 (K)/ 21 of the Criminal Procedure Code MY(P) 63/2020.
“Good to see the arrests happen. I want them to arrest more dealers, because these drugs are spreading everywhere. The kids in the village are being destroyed. I want to speak on behalf of parents, when I say I want to see the authorities arrest the sellers more than the users,” said one of the A Zin’s villagers.
According to Ye police records in 2020, there have been 122 drug related arrests, many are brokers and drug users.
