According to reports from the Thanbyuzayat Town Police Station, 288 tablets of illegal drugs were seized at a house in Panga village, in Thanbyuzayat Township on December 12.
Troops from the state crime aid unit and the Thanbyuzayat Town Police arrested two individuals in a house in Panga village. 38 year old Ma Aye Mon (aka) Ma Cho’ and Than Win Aung (aka) Ah Bhoke aged 29 were taken into custody by the police.
“We are cooperating with state crime police. We got 228 pills and both of the [individuals arrested are] drug traffickers. We will work under the law,” said Deputy Chief Police Kyaw Ning at the Thanbyuzayat Town Police Station.
According to the police seizure records, the drugs are either pink or yellow in colour and often branded with the letters ‘WY’.
Both individuals were charged under Section 19 (K)/ 20 (K)/21 of the Criminal Procedure Code MY(P) 67/2020.
A Panga villager commented, “Villagers say they are involved in motorcycle theft gangs, and have a big name as drug traffickers in this village. We are thankful for the arrests but worry that they will be free soon.”
According to Thanbyuzayat police records for 2020, there have been 148 drug related arrests, many are brokers and drug users.
