Police from the Mudon Police Town Station, arrested a fisherman, from the community on December 12 for possession of illegal drugs.
Wai Yan Tun, a 27 year old fisherman, was carrying 17 pills of illegal drugs.
He was arrested by the Mudon Township Police Station and charged under Section 16 (K) / 21 of the Criminal Procedure Code MY(P) 89/2020.
“We found him while my team was patrolling [the area], and [we found he was carrying] 17 pills. It is our national duty to deal with [illegal] drugs. We [also made] an arrest where there was Kratom garden [and found] Kratom leaves in a vehicle in Ah-Bit village. We will arrest all [drug traffickers and growers] whether big or small,” said Deputy Chief of Police Aung Myo Tun at Mudon Town Police Station,
The Chief of community (2) Mudon Town, Ko Kyaw Thi, said in response to the news of the arrest and kratom raid, “I welcome drug arrests like this. There are many drug users in Mudon Township, and I see some people who have a lot of money and some guys are caught. I [also] want the big owners to be arrested.”
According to Mudon Police records in 2020, there were 147 drug cases filed with 89 cases in Mudon Town and 58 cases from the Ka Mar Wet area of Ye Township.
