Drugs seized in Gone Thon village, Ye Township

According to officials at the Ye police station, 35 tablets of an illegal drug were seized from a house in Gone Thon village, Ye Township in the morning of December 12.

“According to our team, we made an arrest at [suspects] home after getting news. We found 35 tablets of [illegal] drugs. The case is being prosecuted under the law,” said Deputy Chief of Ye Police Station, Win Myint.

The police initially found 12 pills of an illegal drug imprinted with the letters ‘WY’ in pink. This is a common branding for this type of illegal drug. The pills were found in a plastic can and an additional 23 pills were found under a bed. In total 35 pills were seized.

Ah Baie, who is a known drug trafficker [dealer] is approximately  22 years old and was arrested at the house.   He  was charged under section 19 (K) of the Prevention of Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substance Act, MY(P) 62/2020, according to the Ye Town Police Station.

U Tun Maung, Kwan-Doo villager, “There is no reason to dislike drug seizures. The young people have lost their future because of these drugs and it is better to arrest more and more, but I suggest to arrest the big trunk.”

According to the Ye Police records in 2020, there were 134 drug arrest cases, with 66 cases in Ye Town, and 35 cases in the Lamaing area.  The Khawzar area police station recorded  23 drug related cases.
