A man from Malawchaung Village in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, was shot dead after allegedly being accused of acting as a military informant, according to a local source.

On the morning of January 22nd, at around 10 a.m., 37-year-old Soe Naing Oo from Malawchaung Village was shot dead at his home. Two men reportedly arrived on a motorcycle, entered the house, and opened fire.
A resident stated that Soe Naing Oo succumbed to gunshot wounds to the head and chest at the scene of the incident.
At approximately 11 a.m., junta troops arrived at the scene, conducted an inspection, and transported Soe Naing Oo’s body to the public hospital in Kyaikto Township.
It remains unclear which armed group was responsible for the shooting or the motive behind the attack.
Residents speculate that Soe Naing Oo, who was known to have connections with both the military junta and other armed groups, may have been targeted due to suspicions of being an informant or collaborator.
A similar incident occurred on January 12, when 51-year-old U San Min Aye, a resident of Kyaikpi Village in Kyaikto Township, was shot and killed at Parrot Tea Shop in downtown Kyaikto.

According to residents, while some of those killed were confirmed informants for the military junta, others were targeted based solely on unverified accusations.
