Clashes Persist Near Chaunghnitkhwa Village in Kyaikmaraw Township

According to local residents, fighting has been going on since the morning of November 10 in Chaunghnitkhwa village, Kyaikmaraw township, Mon state.

The military junta stationed at the village police station and at Attaran Bridge came under attack by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) in the early morning of November 11.

The Mudon-Chaunghnitkhwa-Kyarinnseikkyi road was temporarily closed due to the fighting, according to local residents.

“Since 4 o’clock in the morning, we have been hearing the sound of mortar shells being fired. People in the village are running away because the mortar shells are falling in the village. Currently, the Mudon-Chaunghnitkhwa-Kyarinnseikkyi road is closed,” said a resident of Khao Kho.

There has not yet been confirmation of any civilian casualties.

According to locals, the People’s Defense Forces have announced their intention to attack the Chaunghnitkhwa police station and security gate stations at Attaran Bridge (Chaunghnitkhwa) on November 10.

Both these sites have been frequently attacked by the People’s Defense Joint Forces.
