Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) urges over 48,000 Displaced Persons in Mon State are in Urgent Needs

Mon State Federal Council (MSFC), a Federal Unit political organization representing Mon State, issues a Mon State Humanitarian Briefing today and identifies that there are over 48,000 displaced persons in 5 Townships of Mon State plus about 12786 people in western part of Kya-innseikyi Township of Karen State and 10500 IDPs in Yebyu are needing emergency assistance.

The humanitarian briefing paper is issued by MSFC’s Department of Humanitarian and Rescue and it included that it has monitored the conflict situation in the area closely.  More fighting outbroke after rainy season and the local people in the conflict can be suffered more by the military junta’s motor shelling, airstrikes, killing, arrests and other human rights violations. 

“The violence has increased. The people especially in northern Mon State has stay in a high alert and concerns.  (The junta troops) Shooting against the civilians are almost everyday and the fighting occurred often.  They needs food and shelters in urgent soon after incidents”, explained by Mi Sauh Ta Jo, Head of Department.

The MSFC also appealled to international aid agencies as ‘ they need to have proper humanitarian relief plan to quickly response on the humanitarian needs of IDPs or the community people those suffered from war and violence’.  It also expresses it concerns that if the international aid agencies transter their aids to military regime and it’s department, the aids can be politicized or militarized to take advantage over the armed oppositions.

“During Mocha storm incidents, we have experience the aids to the junta will make delay and aids can be used in other ways”, added Mi Sauh Ta Jo.

Humanitarian Briefing identifies that there are 12786 people in western part of Kya-inn-seikyi Township of Karen State and 10500 people in Yebyu Township, northern part of Taninthayi Region are needing in urgent help of food assistance and shelters. 

Humanitarian Briefing also identifies that there are over 430,000 people in 8 Townships (six townships in Mon State, 1 Township in Karen State and 1 Township in Taninthayi Division) are conflict affected population, who live in conflict zones or fighting areas.  They faced movement restriction and fear of motor shells and land-mines.

Mon State Federal Council (recently known as Mon State Interim Coordinating Committee (MSICC) formed with pro-democracy and federalists from Mon State during Spring Reolution.   It is also a member to National Unity Counciltative Council (NUCC) since it’s formation in 2021.
