People’s Defense Force based in Thayetchaung, Responds to 20,000 Kyat Banknote

The People’s  Defense Force based in Thayetchaung,  the southernmost part of Myanmar, announced that effective action will be taken against those who use 20,000 Kyat banknotes.

The People’s Defense Force wrote in a statement issued on August 4 that the newly issued 20,000 kyat banknote,  released by the military junta’s central bank is illegal, and should not be used by the people.

It is also announced that they will conduct checks on the Myeik-Dawei Road and in the community to see if people are using 20,000 kyat banknotes.

The People’s Defense Force Thayetchaung said if individuals are found in possession of or using 20,000 Kyat banknotes, the currency will be confiscated and appropriate actions will be taken.
