According to local sources, nine individuals, including a gold shop owner and a teacher who allegedly participated in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), were recently arrested in Bilin Township, Mon State.
On July 28th, the military junta, police, and district Administration Team abducted two residents from Bilin No. 8 ward, three from Sayar Zan ward, and four from Taung Son village.
The arrested individuals include Ko Zaw Winn Oo, the owner of Miba Myinttar gold shop; Daw Aye Aye Khine, a teacher allegedly involved in the CDM movement; and Ma Ei Phyu Zin, a private bank employee.
Ko Zaw Winn Oo, the owner of the Miba Myinttar gold shop, was released after paying a ransom, but the others are still being held, according to local sources.
The military junta has filed a case citing the Anti-Terrorism Act and Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code, according to one resident.
According to an August 1 statement issued by the Association for Assistance of Political Prisoners (AAPP), nearly 20,000 civilians have been detained during the two-year coup.
