The 3rd wave of COVID-19’s has increased the number of cases and brought increasing difficulties.
Families face challenges accessing government hospitals and COVID-10 [medical] centers.
In response, the New Mon State Party will soon open five new medical centers within its controlled areas.
The temporary medical centers will be located in Thaton District, in Kawkareik Township, Karen State, Bale Dhon Phat area, Three Pagodas Pass Town, Karen State, Mawlamyine District (NMSP) Office in TaungPauk Village, Kyarinnseikkyi Township, at WelZin Village, Dawei District (NMSP), Ye Township, Mon State and at PaNangPone, in the Yechaung Paya area, of Mon State.Â
“Our committee is working to establish the centers as soon as possible with the participation of doctors, nurses, NMSP’s medics and youth volunteers. These medical centers will be in our controlled areas, and will help protect against the spread of COVID-19. In addition, 18 check-points will also be opened soon,” said Nai Banyar Lei, who is in charge of NMSP’s Home Affairs and Chair of NMSP (Central) COVID-19 Control Committee.
The COVID-19 Control Committee will also support and collaborate, as best they can in other areas where the Mon community lives.
Nai Banyar Lei said ” At the moment, COVID-19 has spread across the towns and the country, it is not necessary to differentiate any groups, or political parties. It is best to have the mindset of collaboration amongst every nationality.”
There are over 100 Mon villages, with a population of more than 70,000Â living in the controlled areas under the NMSP authority.
