Sound bomb explosion suspected at Three Pagodas Township

What was believed to be  a sound bomb exploded near a high school in No. 4 Ward, Three Pagodas Township on the Thai-Burmese border.

A sound bomb or acoustic weapon  is also known by the names, stun grenade, or flash grenade, flashbang, thunderflash. Typically such weapons are a less-lethal explosive device used to temporarily disorient individuals in protest crowds. 

A loud explosion was heard at around 8:25 pm on May 6 in the vicinity of Tai Ta Yar Monastery in No.4 Ward near a government high school.

“An explosion erupted and no one can say the exact location, but it was near the Tai Ta Yar Monastery, or near the high school. No damage was reported,” said locals.

No organization or individuals have claimed responsibility.  

Last week , there were 3 separate incidents involving hand grenade explosions.  One explosion occurred in front of the administrative office, another at the Thai-Burmese border and a third near a car repair shop in Ward 3 last week (April 28).

Acoustic and hand grenade explosions occur ‌almost every day, and the military council is stepping up their arrests of locals, noted some observers.
