Mon Blood Army Says it will Prioritize Military Operations Over Politics

-

The Mon Blood Army (MBA), a newly formed armed group composed of Mon youth, said it will prioritize military operations over political activities and plans to expand its troop strength, a spokesperson told IMNA.

The group was established on December 28, 2025, by Mon youth aged between 18 and 35, joining other Mon revolutionary forces fighting against the military junta.

Although it aims to prioritize military operations, the group currently faces limitations in manpower, weapons, and other resources. As a result, it plans to carry out effective attacks through guerrilla warfare in cooperation with allied forces, spokesperson Yatha Nyan said.

“We will prioritize military efforts over politics. At the moment, we are still weak in terms of manpower and weapons, so we will first engage in battles using guerrilla tactics alongside allied forces. We have also opened a front in Ye Township with our allies,” he said.

On April 4, the Mon Blood Army, led by Mon youth, reportedly launched a mortar attack on Artillery Battalion No. 316 of the military junta near Kalaw village in Ye Township.

The group said it formed under the name Mon Blood Army with the belief that a youth-led revolutionary force could more quickly achieve its political goals.

Yatha Nyan added that the group aims to demonstrate to the public that young people are capable of contributing to the struggle for liberation and the establishment of a federal democratic system.

“Our force is entirely youth-led, with members aged between 18 and 35. We want to prove to both senior leaders and the public that young people can take the lead and achieve results. We are fighting for freedom and to build a federal democracy. Our only enemy is the military dictatorship,” he said.

The group is also planning to mobilize Mon youth from various regions to actively join and strengthen its military capacity.

Meanwhile, in Mon and surrounding areas, other revolutionary forces—including the New Mon State Party (Anti-Military Dictatorship) (NMSP-AD) and the Mon Liberation Army (MLA)—merged to form the Ramanya Mon Army (RMA) on May 24, 2025, and have since been conducting military operations.

The Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF) and its allied groups are also actively engaged in military activities in southern Mon State. Fighting has intensified in Ye Township throughout 2026, with daily clashes reported.
