Mon State Achieves Highest Results in National University Entrance Exams

Mon State achieved the highest pass rate nationwide in the 2025 university entrance examinations, with a success rate of 57.16 percent, according to a statement released by the State Department of Education.

In Mon State, 8,972 students took the 2025 university entrance examination, and 5,128 of them passed, as announced by the Ministry of Education on July 27.

Among the 5,128 students who passed in Mon State, 1,631 were from Mawlamyine Township, 780 from Mudon, 615 from Thanbyuzayat, 439 from Thaton, 397 from Paung, 348 from Chaungzon, 301 from Kyaikto, 260 from Bilin, 190 from Ye, and 167 from Kyaikmaraw Township.

Records from the State Department of Education indicate that among the successful candidates, 13 students achieved distinction in six subjects, 39 in five subjects, 97 in four subjects, 160 in three subjects, 266 in two subjects, and 988 in one subject.

In regular academic years, the number of candidates taking the university entrance examination in Mon State exceeded 30,000. However, since the military takeover, only a few thousand students have participated in the exams.

Mon State has consistently maintained the highest university entrance examination pass rate in the country, though its ranking dropped to fifth place in 2023.
