The Mon Literature and Culture Association has invited donors from various regions to participate in a ceremony honouring outstanding students who excelled in summer Mon language classes.
The Mon-wide Summer Mon Language Examination will be held on May 21st at the Thathana 2500 School in Mawlamyine, while an award ceremony for outstanding students will be held on May 31st.
The Mon Literature and Culture Association plans to award five special prizes for each Mon history class. Additionally, 142 students who have completed all their history classes will also be honoured in graduation gowns.
Mon people and local communities are encouraged to participate in supporting the long-term development of Mon literature, whether by sponsoring individual awards, supporting specific classes, or contributing to the recognition program for graduates.

“Because of the Mon people’s support and love for our literature and culture, the association has remained strong for 27 years. As the number of students grows every year, we invite everyone to continue supporting us,” the official said.
For the special awards program, first prize winners will receive 150,000 kyats, second prize winners 130,000 kyats, third prize winners 110,000 kyats, and two consolation prizes of 200,000 kyats each. Altogether, around 4 million kyats will be needed for all seven Mon history classes.
Additionally, students who completed the history classes and graduated will each receive 60,000 kyats, bringing the total cost for the graduation recognition program to 8.52 million kyats.
At the township level, Mon literature and culture groups teach 12 levels from kindergarten to history classes, but only history class students can take the Mon-wide Mon language examination.
Currently, the association has expanded to 25 townships across Mon State, Karen State, Tanintharyi Region, Bago Region, as well as Thailand and Malaysia, making it one of the strongest associations involved in Mon language education.
