Pyusawhti Leader Shot Dead in Ye Township

-

A Pyusawhti militia leader was shot dead on a bridge in Chaung Taung village, Ye Township, Mon State, by the Ye Blue Group, according to sources.

The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on April 27, when the Pyusawhti leader, identified as Maung Naing, was returning home. He was shot by members of the Ye Blue Group and died at the scene, according to a statement posted on the group’s social media page.

The Ye Blue Group accused Maung Naing of carrying out inspections on travelers along the Chaung Taung bridge road, including inappropriate searches of women, as well as extorting money and confiscating property from civilians.

The group said its members carried out the shooting operation due to his alleged actions and were able to withdraw without casualties.

The Ye Blue Group also issued a warning to officials, police, and other staff under the military junta in Ye town to remain cautious in their movements.
