At Least 10 Junta Soldiers Killed in Clash Near Mawtkanin Village

A clash near Mawtkanin Village in Ye Township, Mon State, resulted in the deaths of at least 10 soldiers from the military junta, according to a statement by the New Mon State Party (Anti-Military Dictatorship) NMSP-AD. The fighting occurred around 8:00 AM on August 30 near Kunyaik Village.

The battle involved around 20 junta troops stationed in Kunyaik Village, who were attacked by a joint force consisting of the NMSP-AD, YPDF, and KNLA. The exchange of gunfire lasted for approximately 30 minutes.

Local sources reported that some civilians were also injured due to mortar shelling by junta forces during the clash.

Following the battle, a group of around 100 junta soldiers moved from Kunyaik Village into Konpaw New Village, where they conducted searches.

Clashes along the Thanbyuzayat-Ye-Dawei road have been frequent, with at least six incidents occurring throughout August.
