Two Civilians Killed, Two Injured in Mortar Shell Explosion in Thaton Township

Two civilians were killed, and another two were injured in a mortar shell explosion launched by the military junta in Thaton Township, Mon State.

On November 10, around 3:00 p.m., the military junta camp in Peinhnetaw fired mortar shells targeting residential villages.

A shell fired exploded above Peinhnetaw, Minlwin Village, killing 73-year-old villager Htee Htit Nuu and 46-year-old Saw Soe Win Naing, according to a statement from the Karne National Union (KNU) Center.

Additionally, 72-year-old Yar Kaw Naw and 32-year-old Saw Thet Naing were injured in the mortar shell explosion, and two houses were damaged.

On November 9th, at around 5:00 p.m., the 9th Infantry Battalion fired at least 2 mortar shells into villages in Da Nu Village, Thaton Township. One of the shells exploded between Theakone village and Thoneeinsu village, damaging two houses in Thoneeinsu village.

The KNU reported that the 206th artillery battalion in Thaton Township and other junta’s forces based in Peinhnetaw are targeting residential villages and workplaces.
