Fighting rages around the village of Kale-Tagundaing

According to local residents, clashes between the military junta and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) have been ongoing since the morning of July 14, near Kale-Tagundaing village, Kyarinnseikkyi Township, Karen State.

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on July 14th, a fierce conflict unfolded in the area of 6th Brigade within Dupalaya District. Intense fighting spans across Kale, Tagundaing, Pu Lain, and Nyein Chan Myine Villages, according to a local source.

“The military junta has been relentlessly firing from Kale. On July 14th, they fired throughout the entire day, unleashing one 120mm shell from the Abit artillery, while the count of 80mm shells was too numerous to track. The continuous attacks have forced residents to flee for the past 20 days,” said a local.

Local residents report that military junta forces, based in Abit Village, Mudon Township, Mon State, are targeting Kale-Tagundaing Village, Kyarinnseikkyi Township, Karen State almost every day with artillery attacks.

Thousands of residents from villages such as Pu Lain, Kale, Tagundaing, Nan Tai Tun in Kyarinnseikkyi Township have fled for their safety.
