-

The summer Mon literature course and accompanying exam is organized by the powerful Mon literature organization and draws many participants. More than 3,000 students took part in the 24th Mon Region’s Mon Summer Literature Examination held on May 21.  The exam was held at the 2500 Buddhist monastery in Mawlamyine, Mon State.

In addition to participants from Mon State, students came from 17 townships in Karen State, Tanintharyi Division, and Bago Division.

“What is special about this year is that there are many people who came to take the exam. The place where the exam was taken became difficult for some. For example, people from Bago and Yangon can’t come,” said Nai Mon Raraja, an agent of the Mon Literature and Culture Association.

Among the 3,000 plus students who took the exam, 1,008 students passed the Abhidharma class, 602 students passed the Hanthawaddy history class, 323 students passed the Moketama history class, 219 students passed the Suvarnabhumi history class, 144 students passed the Mon literature history class, and 164 students passed the Mon culture class, according to the Mon Literature and Buddhist Culture Association

Special prizes will be given to successful students.

“In one class, there will be 5 special prizes. In total, there will be 30 awards. There will also be an award given to those who completed all the Mon history classes. There are more than 80 students who completed the history class,” said Nai Mon Raja.

An award ceremony will be held on May 28th at Kanlayanamit‌ta Monastery, Kyunywa Village, in Kyaik Marraw Township.
