The petrol stations in Mawlamyine Township are now selling gas on a quota basis.
While there is no shortage of gasoline, it is being sold on a quota basis, said an official from the gas station.
“Motorcycles can be refueled as needed. Certain considerations will apply for some cars and trucks before they will be able to be refueled. There are also days when you can not fully refuel. We have to sell on a quota basis,” he said.
He added that efforts were being made to provide as much fuel as needed for motorcycles and cars.
Some petrol stations only sell petrol for half a day, according to one taxi driver.
“When I ran out of 95 octane I had to search many petrol stations in the city. Some petrol stations were closed for half a day,” he said.
He added that petrol stations are selling on a quota basis, so we cannot buy as much as we need and we have to wait in long queues.
According to State Administrative Council spokesman Gen. Zaw Min Tun, there is no shortage of gasoline; however, reserve oil will remain in the reservoirs until June 16.
On June 6, 95 Octane was priced at 2,330 kyats per liter, 92 Octane 2,240 kyats per liter, the price of diesel was 2,545 kyats per liter and the premium price was 2,575 kyats per liter.
