The 2022 Mon National Conference will begin on May 2 and run over 4 days. The event will take place at the New Mon State Party (NMSP) base in the Ye Chaung Phya area. This is also where the Mon National Education Department is based at Nyi Sar Camp.
NMSP Central Executive Committee member Nai Banyar Lae, Deputy Leader of the convention convening committee, said, “we hope that the 2018 Mon National Political Dialogue in Ye and the draft constitution of the Ramanya Mon State will be a good result for the future.”
He added that the NMSP has accepted that the goals of the Mon people can only be achieved with the participation of Mon monks, armed party organizations, political parties operating within the legal framework and various civil society organizations.
“We, the NMSP Central Committee, have seen that national unity should be the first priority in order to achieve the goal of the whole Mon nation. In order to build national unity, we must be able to unite and consult with each other, and this will lead us to our desired goal,” said Nai Banyar Lae.
A total of 250 observers, including 30 members of the New Mon State Party (NMSP), 30 members of the Mon Unity Party (MUP), 45 members of Mon civil society organizations, 30 Mon monks, invited organizations and experts, as well as observers, will attend the conference.
The 2016 Mon National Conference was held in Paula Gone Village, Kyainseikgyi Township, a NMSP-controlled area within Kayin State. The 2013 Mon National Conference was held at the Mon State Hall in Mawlamyine.
