On February 3, hundreds of cars were blocked by artillery and gunfire that occured between Bilin and Thaton townships at 2 pm.
A local resident said the Tatmadaw was firing heavy artillery at an unknown source.
“The army was using heavy artillery and the sound of the gunfire was very clear, but it was not clear who was on the other side. Some artillery shells fell on the village,” said a Bilin resident.
As a result of the fighting, buses on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road and buses at the Bilin exit gate were blocked.
The 314th Artillery Brigade who are based near Zewon village in Bilin township were responsible for the use of the heavy weapons..
Belin Township is the area of the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 1.
