U Khin Maung Oo, a speaker for the Young Men’s Buddha Association (MYBA) of Paung Township, Mon State was assassinated at about 7am, on Thursday September 7, 2021.
An unknown gunman shot U Khin Maung Oo eight times while he was at his garden [plantation] near the SwoThaw Cemetery.
“The incident is true. It’s the first time in Paung Township that a person is shot dead. M16 bullet casings were found. But we do not know who shot him,” said a source with a local police group.
U Khin Maung Oo was a writer, but recently had been working on his plantation.
Another member of the YMBA named, U Kyaw Thu Htun from Ye Township’s Azin Village, was also shot three times on September 24. He survived the shooting.
