Drugs seized crossing state lines

The Kamar Wet Police have seized a shipment of drugs that originated in Kalae Than Khon Tine village, Kyainseikgyi Township, in Karen State, that was enroute to A Bit village, in Mudon Township in Mon State. 

Police set up a watch along the interstate highway and eventually noticed two young males on a motorcycle acting in a suspicious manner.  They were detained and searched.  Police found a total of 158 illegal pills in their possession. 

Kamar Wet police arrested Thu Rein Win,  25 years old, from Thiri Myine ward, in Mawlamyine, and Hein Min Soe, 21 years from Thiri Magalar ward, Mawlamyine.  Both have been charged under Section 19(K) 21 of the Criminal Procedure Code MY (P) 60/2020. 

“After getting a tip, our troops waited for a long time (along the highway).  The case is being prosecuted according to the law,” said the Chief of Police,  Kyaw Myint.

Locals commented on the incident, noting they would like to see the “big ones” involved in drug trafficking to be arrested.  

Kamar Wet Area Police have recorded 60 drug related arrests.
