Over 55,000 meth tablets seized in Mawlamyine: Suspects remain free

Local authorities seized 58,000 methamphetamine tablets (aka meth)  in Myaintharyar Ward, Mon State’s capital city Mawlamyine during the evening of  August 19. However, the suspected drug dealers have not yet been arrested.

Authorities from the South East Command and anti-drug group 38 members with the Mawlamyine police, joined forces to enter a rented house on the SoneZi Road, in Myaintharyar Ward.  No one was found in the house, and the meth tablets were confiscated. 

Two suspects have been identified as U Nyi Nyi and U Aung Kyaw Latt, both have been charged under section 19/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances law. The police are still searching for the suspects.

On August 18, in another drug related incident in Shin Saw Bu Ward/quarter of Kyaikmayaw Town, police found a plastic bag with 84 WY meth pills at a local store. 

U Min Min Aung, the suspect, was arrested and charged  under  Section 19(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances law.
