In Kyainseikgyi Township, Ye Pyu Township and Ye Chaung Phyar region, the NMSP control more than 30 of Mon ethnic schools was opening.

At present, there have been donations to schools of   face shields and hand gel, but Mon Schools still need masks and infrared thermometers.

“We have not got not enough masks. Students buy themselves a mask and each school also need infrared thermometers. Some schools have no funds…. our school is poor, it is not possible to get donations from here.” said Min Aung Zay.

“Some schools were opened in the NMSP-controlled area. That is a remote area so I think they are safe. In Ye Pyu township about 10 schools were opened, 16 schools in Kyainseikgyi and 8 schools in Ye Chaung Phyar were opened. The remaining schools will only open when the government school starts.” he added.

There are many schools under MNEC jurisdiction. This includes 142 primary schools, 12 middle schools, and 3 high schools. There are more than ten thousand students attending schools in the Mon, Karen and Tanintharyi Region.
