Six civilians, including three children, were killed after military junta aircraft carried out an airstrike on Ta Phi Lay Kho Village in Ler Muh Lar (Palaw) Township, Myeik–Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, according to the Karen National Union (KNU).
At around 12:30 p.m. on March 9, junta forces dropped two 500-pound bombs from a jet fighter on Ta Phi Lay Kho Village, despite no fighting taking place in the area.
The KNU said the victims included two 11-year-old boys, a 6-year-old girl, and three men in their 40s, bringing the total number of deaths to six.
Three 13-year-old boys were also injured in the bombing, according to the KNU.
Ta Phi Lay Kho Village is located in an area administered by the KNU in Myeik–Dawei District, where most residents are ethnic Karen.
The KNU also reported that on March 5, junta forces carried out bombing attacks using drones and jet fighters in Kyaukkyi (Ler Doh) Township in Nyaunglaybin (Kler Lwee Htoo) District, another area under KNU administration. During that attack, about 25 civilians were killed in the airstrikes and five others were shot dead, the KNU said.
