The Mon community in Singapore plans to offer scholarships to students of the Mon National Education College to support and strengthen Mon national education. This initiative aims to expand educational opportunities and contribute to the development of Mon education.
In collaboration with the Mon National College, the Mon Community of Singapore will provide full scholarships to 15 students pursuing studies in Mon literature and culture.
Nai Lawka Mon, an official from the Mon Community of Singapore, stated that 15 studentsā12 in their second year and three in their third yearāwill each receive a scholarship of 1.5 million MMK, totaling 22.5 million MMK in financial support.

He added, “What we value most is the survival of Mon literature and culture, which is the essence of the Mon National College. That is why we support this field. Moreover, the number of young people studying this subject has declined, so we are assisting in the promotion of Mon literature and encouraging students to continue their education.”
Among the students studying Mon literature and culture at the Mon National College, there are 12 second-year students and 17 third-year students. From these, 12 second-year students and three third-year students were selected based on their academic performance and personal circumstances.
An official from the Mon National Education College stated, “Their organization initially intended to support 15 second-year students. However, since there are only 12 second-year students, we selected three third-year students based on their home situations and GPA scores.”
The Mon Community of Singapore has announced that in the coming years, it will carefully plan its initiatives and, depending on its financial capacity, will continue making donations to Mon National Schools, including the Mon National College.
The tuition fee for each student at the Mon National Education College is 1.5 million MMK. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the Mon National Education Committee implemented a program to support financially disadvantaged students by providing tuition fee assistance through the MNEC scholarship.
The Mon Community of Singapore has also been organizing events such as Thingyan celebrations, traditional Mon elder ceremonies, and religious sermons while providing ongoing support for Mon National Education.
