In Tanintharyi Region, five soldiers from the military junta were killed in an ambush in Dawei Township on November 18, according to a statement released by the Yebyu People’s Defense Force (YPPDF) on November 19.
The attack took place around 9 a.m. when a three-wheeled vehicle carrying military junta soldiers was intercepted by combined forces of the People’s Defense Force. This resulted in a 15-minute exchange of gunfire, during which five junta soldiers were killed at the scene. Two other junta soldiers were reported to have been wounded but managed to flee.
The YPPDF also reported that military weapons and equipment were seized in the attack, including three MA1 pistols, one MA3 pistol, one MA2 submachine gun, 15 grenades, and other related materials.
The attack was carried out jointly by the YPPDF and the Dawei National Liberation Army (DNLA). According to local sources, the driver of the three-wheeled vehicle used by the military junta forces was also killed in the clash.
Following the ambush in Dawei, sources indicate that the military junta launched additional operations, sending troops into both Dawei and Launglon townships.
