Local sources reported the discovery of a man’s body, dead from gunshot wounds, in the creek in Pak Taw village, Paung Township, Mon State.
A local farmer found the body around noon on September 26. The deceased male was later identified as a 23-year-old named Nga Phyo from Tan Khun Tai village in Paung Township, with a gunshot wound to the head and a bruised eye.
A local stated, “His face also had bruises, indicating that he had been tortured before being shot.”
The body of Nga Phyo, who died from gunshot wounds, was taken by local rescue groups to the Rin Nyaing District Hospital.
According to a local, Nga Phyo was an ordinary civilian with no affiliations to any group.
However, the suspect and motive behind the murder of Nga Phyo remain identified.
Incidents of extrajudicial killings have been ongoing in Mon State, with casualties resulting from both revolutionary armed forces and shots by military junta troops.
Previously, on the morning of September 25, a 34-year-old man named U Myo Win from Kwan Hlar village in Mudon Township was also shot and killed.
In September, at least 11 people reportedly died from extrajudicial killings in Mon State.
