Police Kill civilian in Paung Township

According to local residents, a civilian man from Zinbar Ward, Paung Township, Paung Township, Mon State, was shot and killed by the military junta police.

On January 26th , around 12:00 noon, police arrested Ko Aung Naing Win, approximately 30 years old, at his home.

When Ko Aung Naing Win tried to escape while being arrested, the police opened fire.

“Around afternoon, the police came to Ko Aung Naing Win’s house with weapons, and when Ko Aung Naing Win attempted to flee from arrest, a policeman fired a gun at him, and he was hit by a bullet and died,” said a resident of Zinbar neighborhood.

Ko Aung Naing Win died at the scene from bullet wounds to the head and back.

According to the locals, Ko Aung Naing Win and his wife are innocent, and the locals, including the village priests, are dissatisfied with this incident.

The military juntaā€™s propaganda channel called Telegram wrote that Ko Aung Naing Win was shot and arrested for running away when the security team entered searching for people believed to be with a terrorist group.

This is not the first incident of police killing area residents. On the night of December 31st, in Moke Ta Ma, Kywechan village, Paung-Thaton district, a man riding a motorcycle was shot and killed when the police intercepted a car carrying opium leaves on Chinset road.
