New Mon State Party Elects Two Additional Members to Central Executive Committee

On January 12th, the New Mon State Party announced that their 11th conference elected two additional members to the party’s Central Executive Committee. The party also reported their completion of a leadership selection program, with 11 members now chosen for the Central Working Committee.

The two elected members of the Central Executive Committee are Mi Sar Thar, and Deputy Chief of Staff, Banyar Chan Non.

To conference elected members to the Central Committee, Central Executive Committee, Military Committee, as well as electing the party President and Secretary.

Nai Hongsa, Vice President Nai Aung Min, General Secretary Nai Zwe Ya, and Joint Secretary Nai Win Hla, were re-elected as party president; the remaining leaders were re-elected without any changes.

At the 11th conference, a total of 41 members of the Central Committee and 6 auxiliary Central Committee members were elected by secret ballot. Additionally, 11 members of the Central Executive Committee and 7 members of the Military Committee were chosen from the Central Committee members.

Among the 7 members of the Military Committee, Vice Chief of Staff Banyar Chan Non was elected as the Secretary, and Colonel Hongsa was elected as the Joint Secretary.

The party constitution states that there shall be a  total of 41 members, 35 members of the Central Committee, and 6 members of the Reserve Central Committee.  11 members of the Central Executive Committee are selected by the conference and they are  responsible for implementing the Party plans and revolutionary processes adopted at conferences.
