128 Rohingya community members arrested on boat traveling on the  Salween River

A group of 128 Rohingya, including children, were apprehended on a boat in the Salween River, approximately 10 miles away from Chaungzon Township in Mon State.

On the early morning of April 2nd, the boat was inspected by the Burmese Navy of the SAC Military Council, and all of those on the boat were arrested.

Among the detained Rohingyas, there are 102 males, 20 females.  This includes 1 male child and 5 female children.

“They were taken to Mawlamyine and are being checked,” said a source close to the security police.

The individuals  who were arrested came from Rakhine State, passed through Thailand, and were on their way to Malaysia.

From March 24th  to the 26th of this year, other mass arrests  were made in Winsein and Khalaukcha villages, located in the Htinshu village tract of Thanphyuzayat township in Mon state.  In those incidents,  130 Rohingya males and 69 females, for a total of 199 individuals were arrested.

Between January and February of this year, more than 40 Rohingya persons were arrested in Mon State.

Since the military coup, Rohingya persons have been frequently arrested across the country.  Some have even been killed on site, with no consequences for their captors.
