According to people close to Nai Tint Wai, a business owner from Mawtkanin Village, Ye Township, Mon State, he was arrested more than 15 days ago, and has not yet been released.
Naing Tint Wai was abducted by members of the 106th Battalion of the State Administrative Council military forces on February 14. At first he was able to contact his family members.
“Initially the military said they would just talk with him a little, but when they found him on the road they took him. Since that day, there has not been any contact with him,” said a person close to Nai Tint Wai.
In the second week of February, three civilians from Mawtkani village were also arrested by the SAC military council. One of those arrested was released on February 24, according to local residents.
“When I got there, they (SAC Military) quickly checked and questioned me. I am just a grass cutter. Another person was arrested and held for 3 days and just now he has been released,” said a resident.
On February 9th, the SAC Military Council forces shot and killed Nai Bin, while he was at a rubber farm. Nai Bin was from Mawtkanin Village in Ye Township.
Military council forces have been arresting and killing civilians without reason, violating human rights, and the situation has become more dire since February 2 when martial law was declared, say local residents.
